Na zona oeste da Madeira, os turistas podem encontrar a vila piscatória: Câmara de Lobos. Esta região tem esta designação porque em outros tempos era usual encontrar-se por aquelas bandas o lobo marinho (Monachus). Atualmente esta é uma região piscatória e pitoresca que se encontra rodeada por vinhedos e por bananeiras. De salientar ainda que esta ilha tem sido - ao longo dos tempos - fonte de inspiração de diversos políticos como, por exemplo, Sir Winston Churchill, que a pintou nos anos cinquenta do século passado.
