Santa Maria da Feira deve o seu nome a um mercado que ali existiu nos alvores da nacionalidade. Actualmente, esta cidade é um dos mais importantes pólos industriais do país mas nunca perdeu o encanto e as suas tradições mais remotas. Um dos pólos mais importantes desta cidade é o seu castelo. Esbelto e muito elegante, este castelo relembra os contos de fadas e distingue-se por ser uma raridade do género em Portugal, tornando-se inconfundível pelo tipo de seteiras que adornam as suas muralhas e pelas suas torres de forma cónica.
